Libraries We Love – The Chappaqua Library

The key to understanding people and the world around us begins with education. One way to learn about the world is by developing a love of books. Each month, we profile a library. Large, small, urban, rural, post-modern, quaint or neo-classic; do you have a library that you love? Tell us about it. Comments: “Democracy In Chains” by Nancy MacLean

It is interesting, but we are taught in most history classes in this country, to believe in “liberty” and “freedom.” Freedom means that people in this country are endowed with certain “rights” which protect them against such things as unlawful searches and seizures, and cruel and unusual punishment. Freedom includes such things as the right to vote for representatives and senators, the right to equal treatment under the law, the right to worship as we please, the right to a trial by a jury of our peers and the right to pursue our own happiness the way we see fit. Freedom means many things to the citizens of this country including the freedom to express oneself, the freedom to petition the government for redress of certain grievances, the freedom to travel within the country as we please and the freedom to start businesses and earn a living.

Jill Harth: Professional Makeup Artist

She comes to the studio armed with a small arsenal of supplies with which she will work her magic to make my subject look and feel beautiful. She does this all the time and when she leaves, the images that follow her bear the imprint of a professional. Her “magic” is often so subtle that you have to look hard to see what she has done. Yet, that’s the whole idea of her art. She enhances her subjects so that the enhancements themselves seem to fit like parts of a jigsaw puzzle that bring the whole image together. They form the basic parts of my images of beauty.

A Good Photography Blog

Why do people read blogs? One reason is to find out what’s happening in a particular field or with a certain person of interest. Another is to learn something! Since I am a teacher of photography, I always post articles about technique, particular solutions to lighting problems or instruction on the basics. There is always something to learn here.
