Mike has a long history in education, having worked in schools serving students from pre-K through graduate school as a teacher, counselor, and learning specialist. He has also been sought as a consultant by hospitals and social service institutions and has served as a board member for two nonprofit schools specializing in intensive and individualized multidisciplinary support systems. In recent years, Mike has created a series of highly instructive workshops and training programs covering a wide range of issues that educators face every day. Adolescent development, executive functioning, stress, inattention and learning disabilities are common to all schools. They are specifically designed to help schools acquire information and skills that are simple, replicable and effective. Most of these workshops typically are designed for a half day or day long formats and include information and fun interactive activities that provide skills that can be implemented immediately. Mike also provides consultation services to independent schools working to develop or enhance support systems for students with learning differences. In addition, Mike is coauthor of two books, The Administrator's Desk Reference of Behavior Management and Meaningful Work. The Administrators Desk Reference focuses on successful strategies that help administrators improve school climate, culture and school-wide behavior. Meaningful Work is a guide for elementary school working that helps schools address student behaviors with a positive and proactive approach that has proven success in schools across the country. Mike is currently completing two new books, one on Executive Functioning, Practical Perspectives and Skills that Guide Decision Making and Action and the second, Parent and Child Development During the Teen Years, Practical Perspectives and Skills.
