May 2023 Magazine

Our May 2023 Magazine covers "Do-Gooders" who are making our world a better place to live, work and play.

From Serving Time to Serving Others

Men who once had been convicted of felonies are transforming into agents for positive change. If they can do that, so can the rest of us.

Welcome to ThrivalWorld!

Jane Dudley and her company Thrival were featured in our magazine five years ago. In five years, the world has indeed changed. In fact, it has taken that long for the world to catch up with both Jane Dudley and Thrival. Described as the first augmented reality (AR) content creation and delivery platform, Thrival unlocks a new dimension for people to reach the highest pinnacle of their imagination.

What is the Federalist Society and what does it want from our courts?

The Federalist Society (FS) is the most successful activist group to shape, if not make, federal court decisions. How has that come about? Where did they come from? And what do they want? Before answering those questions, one must appreciate their immense presence in the federal court system.

The Freedom to Read

“If you read, you can learn to think for yourself.” Those words came from esteemed novelist Doris Lessing some years ago, when speaking of the value of public libraries and their role in creating an informed citizenry.

Decline of Stories About the Urban Working Class

According to author Patricia Vaccarino, “I keep a very close eye on what is being published. My Yonkers Trilogy did not fit the current needs of agents or publishers. Stories about the urban working-class are not welcome at this time.”

NOTES FROM THE WORKING CLASS: SPARE ME

The royals are fun, engaging and great fodder for gossip, but spare me. We fought a war to get rid of them. The Declaration of Independence in July, 1776 listed twenty-seven grievances against George III. Among his offenses it was noted, “He has plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people."

Discussion Guide Planned for Yonkers Trilogy

A Discussion Guide is in development to address the controversial issues in Patricia Vaccarino’s Yonkers Trilogy. Titled Yonkers Beats, this Discussion Guide is intended for use by teachers, book clubs—or anyone who wants—to examine controversial topics that engender difficult conversations.
