Something *really* different

Solar Codex: A Light Odyssey is a book like nothing else you've ever read. Author David Laing has even coined his own term for his unique kind of writing: prosetry. Laing loves to play with words, with the sounds and the spellings, the meanings and meters. With rhymes and alliteration, synonyms and homophones, he paints a modern allegory, rich with alchemical symbolism and mythic resonance. Apollicius, a young sun, journeys toward enlightenment as he creates his own planetary system. It's a metaphysical coming of age novel, a quest of spiritual depth and galactic breadth. Read this book in a reflective state of mind. Let your imagination be inspired by Laing's evocative curling, spiraling drawings, as much a part of the story as his pirouetting prose. Muse on his magical, musical words, and join Apollicius in his visionary journey, his light odyssey. Sir Francis Bacon wrote, "Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested." Solar Codex is one of those few. Savor it slowly, absorb it meditatively. You'll be turning its images in your mind long after you turn the last page. Disclosure: I'm Mr. Laing's book designer. However, I read this book as would anyone else. I think it has greatest appeal to a certain type of reader, and won't be everyone's cup of tea. But if you give this book a chance, and approach it on its own terms, I think you'll be in awe of the author's unique vision, knowledge and talent. Star ratings are irrelevant to this book. You'll either "get it" and love it or you won't. I did.
